VERA Sewer Comments

Voorhees, New Jersey 08043
Dear Committee Members:
VERA respectfully requests the following:
Stop proceeding with the proposed sewer extension and direct your engineer to evaluate VERA' plan. It has been more than six months since VERA approached Committee with serious questions and concerns regarding the sewer project, and our comments have yet to be addressed. Especially considering the cost of the project and the enormous impact it could have on our community, questions raised about the desirability of a sewer extension should be answered before more work is done on the project.
Please refer the sewer project to the EC for a thorough review- if you intend to continue with your plan-since the Township's proposed sewer line would disturb environmentally sensitive areas.
The legislature established a law permitting municipalities to establish Environmental Commissions so that environmental aspect of plans would not be overlooked during the planning process
. Please allow our Commission to do the work that is an integral part of being a Commission. Let our Commissioners specify the size of parcels and other criteria that would make an application for a site plan or subdivision warrant their review. Please require developers to provide copies plans to each member of the Commission when a review is warranted.
Do not sell open space (the site of the old Stafford House) to balance the budget. Before considering the sale of Township owned open space, please consult with the EC, the nine people working hard to develop an open space program.
Establish a Bicycle/Pedestrian Path Task Force and appoint Rick Ricciardi as chairperson.
Thank you for considering these requests.
Lori Volpe, President
